Pet portraits in oil of your dog, cat or horse
The Painting Surface
I choose a medium grain cotton duck canvas which is primed with a minimum of three coats of gesso primer for great stability and longevity. To provide the greatest strength and stability the majority of my portraits are painted on primed canvas that has been mounted onto an extremely stable fibreboard, this gives the finished portraits better strength to survive the postal service. However, for those who wish it, I can also paint portraits onto stretched canvas, please state your preference when ordering as it will effect the choice of frames available.
For those who want to really push the boat out, I can also offer the finest quality extra fine grain Italian Linen. Great care is taken to guarantee the highest possible quality, with the finest threads being woven to exact requirements that achieve a blemish free surface. The Linen is then stretched using museum quality Italian stretchers that are carefully selected to eliminate knots and ensure a perfect match and then slowly kiln dried to extract excess moisture and avoid warping.
The Paints
I use Winsor & Newton Fast Drying Oil Colour, this provides the flexibility of traditional oil colour with the benefit of an extremely accelerated drying time.
